Anita Rivera grew up in Liverpool but spent 5 years living in California working in the music business, returning to pursue her own creative path in art gaining a BA. Hons. 1st Class in Fine Art, Sculpture at Chelsea School of Art and an M.F.A. from University of Reading.

Early work explored environmental issues and was further inspired by visits to Eastern Europe in the late 80‘s and a spell living in Poland in 1991. During this period Anita made some large metal panels inscribed with text including the powerful ‘Helios’ which warned of the effects of Global Warming, a theme that still is still explored by the artist today. A passionate believer in peaceful means to resolve conflict, over the last 15 years she has also made many art works as anti war statements.

An interest in the environment led her to making external works which often have their source in the natural world, using the opportunities afforded by these commissions to work with the community to raise awareness of environmental issues. Her most recent work incorporates recycled and reclaimed materials.

Music is still a big part of her life, a.k.a. Suzi Jo, Anita sings with Factory House Blues, a four piece band who play an exciting mix of funky, soulful, blues. www.factoryhouseblues.com
